…is certainly NOT effective and likely not effortless either

So, to improve your health, balance, develop Qi (Ch’i) and be more mobile, you need to switch focus on how to do the moves rather than what the moves are.

Of course, you need to know what to do - where to put your arms and legs, hands and feet and weight etc, but how you get those body parts into the positions is far more important than the positions themselves

What you do gives you the choreography. HOW you do it leads to greater health benefits and skills all round

Here’s why…

As you make your way through everyday life, year after year, you’ll accumulate muscle imbalances and tensions that will affect your joints, tissues and the body systems, e.g. Circulatory (heart), respiratory (lungs), Musculo-skeletal (your joints, bones and muscles) or digestive (processing the food and drink you ingest and excrete).

When you first learn the ‘moves’ of tai chi and qigong, you’re performing them with these imbalances in place which will affect your performance.

Removing these imbalances through your practice will make your body (and mind) much more effective, efficient and resilient)

You’ll reset your body if you do the moves correctly, and this is the main focus of our work in the Academy

Releasing tensions will begin to align your body correctly and this in turn will take the stress and strain off your joints, muscles and vital organs.

Tension, both physical and mental, is the major cause of discomfort and disease…

…it causes blockages and stagnation of Qi and Blood which will translate into problems when standing up, sitting down, bending down, picking things up or putting them down, and getting in and out of the car.

If you have a tendency to grunt or groan when you stand up or sit down, or any other everyday task, it’s a sign that you’re not comfortable in your body

You shouldn’t have any stress or strain when doing these simple movements, so how do you go about eliminating this?

Well, that’s the fun part.

When you learn tai chi and qigong with a focus on how to do the moves correctly, right from the start you begin to re-align your body through releasing and relaxing unnecessary tensions.

This allows your bones to move back to where they should be taking a huge amount of stress and strain off everything and making your everyday movements and tasks far easier

Your body starts to become effortlessly effective, and the grunts and groans disappear!

Your shoulders, hips, knees, wrists, ankles and the whole of your spine need to be gently opened and released to create space in your body.

The space is created when tension is released and this ‘space’ frees up your body and allows it to move the way it should do, with no restrictions

It also frees up Qi flow and patterns of thinking that may keep you ‘stuck’ and unable to develop and grow as a person.

Improved joint mobility and ease of movement, better balance, more energy, less stress and anxiety and an overall feeling of calm and well-being can be felt from just the first session
